Celebrate EU Code Week with Minecraft Education

14 Oct 2024 Students at a computer

EU Code Week is back and better than ever! This grassroots initiative hosted by Microsoft Ireland Dream Space and supported by Microsoft partner Terawe aims to bring coding and digital literacy to every student in the EU in a fun and engaging way. Learning to code helps us make sense of the rapidly changing world around us and prepares us for the future.

EU Code Week takes place October 14 – 27. Anyone is welcome to join an activity and take part alongside other educators and student participants who are learning computational thinking skills, exploring new ideas, and innovating for the future through coding. Whether you are a school leader, educator, student or parent - get started on your journey HERE today.

Teacher in front of classroom

Get ready for EU Code Week with our Educator 101 event, hosted by Dream Space Ireland educators Michael Barrett and Neeve Hyland. This session will equip you to make the most of the week. Explore Minecraft Education’s key features and how to integrate them into your classroom.  Discover exciting activities such as our EU Code Week Themed Build Challenge and AI-focused worlds, including AI for Earth and Generation AI.

Additionally, you’ll get tips on using demo library worlds, engaging students with our Immersive Reader integration, and incorporating in-game language translation for students.

Next, we will be offering a series of live, interactive sessions where you can join experienced Minecraft educators like Michael and Neeve as they guide learners and educators through fun, educational activities and challenges within the Minecraft world in real time.

Whether you're coding, building, or problem-solving, the play-along format allows you to follow step-by-step, engage with peers, and ask questions along the way. It's a collaborative, hands-on experience that makes learning with Minecraft exciting and accessible for all, even beginners!

A Minecraft Education license is not required to take part in some sessions. Several Minecraft Education lessons including Hour of Code: Generation AI—are available for free by visiting this link.

We can’t wait for you to join us and embark on your journey in learning coding and AI skills with Minecraft Education!
