The schools involved are all part of the Brothers of Charity school group. With this innovative hackathon they are fully in line with their core idea "Inspired and connected - in movement with people". Young people came together to innovatively engage in shaping the school of the future.
What is unique here is the collaboration between a diverse group of young people: different ages, regions and types of schools. For example, three youngsters from different cities – a 10-year-old from primary school, a 14-year-old special education student, and a 16-year-old from secondary school – worked together on a theme that they came up with themselves. This not only promoted a sense of belonging and inclusion, but also allowed for a mixing of diverse perspectives and ideas.
The hackathon also encouraged inspired work and out-of-the-box thinking. Participants gave free rein to their creativity in devising and developing a school that not only matches their environment and what they want to study, but also anticipates future needs. For example, they came up with innovative approaches to challenges specifically within education, but also challenges within societal and global issues.
Students brimmed with creative ideas, unbridled energy and collective progress. They not only experienced an innovative approach, but also laid the foundations for a future of progress and innovation. This event was not only an unforgettable school day, but also a powerful testament to the impact that comes when learners themselves become the architects of their learning process.
